Sign for Wildlife Corridor

There’s a cool road — Route 6 — that takes you North East from the Pan American Highway between the two volcanos of Tenorio and Miravalles, to the large pueblo of Upala.
As you rise in elevation, the air and breezes are cool and refreshing, and the volcanos rising on both sides make a mystical energy. You will drive through an interesting small pueblo called Bijagua with the BEST PIZZA around!

A section of the highway is designated as a wildlife corridor, warning drivers to keep their eyes out for animal crossings. This sign literally translates to: “Welcome to the Biological Corridor between Tenorio and Miravalles (volcanos). Native animals may cross the road, so slow down”.
It’s a beautiful road to drive, and one of the routes to the famous Rio Celeste and waterfalls.
