About Tyler
I would like to thank you for visiting my website. My name is Tyler and I love to fish. My dad taught me how to fish when I was just a little kid and after the first day I was hooked. I took to fishing like a fish takes to water.
I grew up in a small town right on the Ottawa River in Canada. It was so much fun fishing for big and small mouth bass, pike, pickerel, and a few sun fish :-), but for the last ten years I have been living on this beautiful Lake Arenal. Down here I have been catching a much bigger variety.
The lake contains Rainbow Bass (Guapote) and the males are very colorful as you can see in the photos. In spanish Guapote means “the handsome one” and is a cousin to the Peacock Bass (acrobatic machacas), a great fighting fish with sharp teeth (smaller version of the Tarpon but related to the Piranha). There is also mojaras (looks like a sun fish) and tilapia. In addition, Lake Arenal has tiger bass or what the locals call pintos. There are a few crayfish in our beautiful lake as well. Last but not least, there are a few catfish.
It’s such an amazing experience to be able to fish at the base of the Arenal volcano. Even to this day, 10 years later, it still amazes me. If you have any questions for me just click on the Live Chat button below. Have a great day and I hope to see you soon.
Pura vida,
Tyler
